The Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra (NSO)‘s violin section has been a musical home for Lauren Smee since 2010; she plays in both the large orchestra and the smaller NSO Sinfonia ensemble.
Outside of the NSO, Lauren can be found performing at concerts and community events with her musical colleagues. Some recent community performances include:
- Contralto Live!
- Isabella Project at the Battery Cafe
- Cape St. Mary’s Performance Series
- Less Violence, More Violins
- Tuckamore at the Pub
Together with Carole Bestvater, Lauren Smee is the co-founder of the Isabella Project, an initiative that celebrates the music that deserves to be prioritized more in the classical music world. The Isabella Project creates concert events with educational components for all ages, which are always centred around the music of women and composers of colour. Recently, they have participated in Tuckamore Cares, a project creating video performances for long-term care residents.
